I saw Gone in 60 Seconds tonight. It wasn’t the first time, but it was the first time I’d seen the whole thing. Before, I had just sort of seen the middle. I knew he was stealing tons of cars, but I didn’t know why, and I didn’t know what happened to them. Now I know.
It wasn’t a bad movie, but it wasn’t particularly great. It’s rating on the IMDB is only 57%, which actually puts it below Star Wars Episode I. Sad. Apparently, the original movie (from the mid-seventies) was much better, and had a 40 minute car chase scene. I must rent that sometime.
Anyway, to get to the point of the post, I’m thinking I could do what they did in the movie. Oh, sure, I don’t have the tools or the team, and I certainly don’t have the experience. They had an eight AM deadline on their steal-a-thon. Let’s see.
It’s 1:12 AM now, so if I left this very instant, I would have less than seven hours to steal fifty cars. Not bloody likely. They had twelve. So, ((7/12)*50) gives me a target of ~29 cars. Since there were three teams, I’d only be able to do one third, so, roughly 10 cars. They had tools and cool gadgets, but they also had Angelina Jolie’s, um, assets to distract them, so it evens out.
So, I’m just gonna go out and steal me ten really nice cars.
Yep. Here I go.
Oh, wait. Crap. Something distracted me.
I’m not into a life of crime anyway.

Okay, sounds good. With us, however, it would be "Gone in Five, Maybe Ten Minutes".
