And, uh, yeah…

Ah, Keddy, you post the best Voicemonkey messages [case A, case B, case C, case D].

I’m so freakin’ tired. But I have good news. Due to excessive vacation day build-up, I’m getting a full-time paycheck for absolutely nothing. That’s right, $1,041.75 (before taxes) for no particular reason. This means that I don’t have to save up for my trips this summer, and I have some money left over. So, I’m buying myself a “dodgy” digital camera (though not nearly as dodgy as my current one, an $80 SiPix jobbie). It’ll probably be the HP that’s on sale at Radio Shack for $130. It’s 1.3 megapixels or something (why the crap can’t they just say the maximum image resolution??). I’d like one with Secure Digital expansion slots (since my laptop has one o them), but I think it’s CompactFlash. Meh.

Pictures of my butt next week.

PS: I actually took some ticket things from work. So anyone who wanted a number, let me know.

Hmm I want the fuji camera. And just think Mark this must be a omen, free money and a car show at the same time?? huh huh.

Mark

SHIT. I totally forgot about that! Must tell Mom.

Wait, Mom reads this.

Erm, can you find your own way home on Sunday, Mom? Car show til 11! Yay!

Meh. We’ll figure it out.

Steve

Yay.

The Hippie

do you have #92?

Tony

So, yeah

Megapixel ratings are for quality, not size of picture. Most cameras will do 1200×1600 as long as its atleast 2.3megapixel. But, a camera thats 4 will do them at better quality. They call them pixels, but they actually arent. They are just small points of color in a picture. Much like pixels, but they work differently.

IE:

If you have a 2 megapixel camera, and you take a picture at 640×480, there will be 2 million ‘pixels’ when the picture is taken. When the picture is downloading onto the computer, the DPI is adjusted for the quality, and the pixels are adjusted to the size of the picture.

The same thing for a picture thats 2048×1024. Still only 2 megapixels.

Everyone thinks that taking a picture at the highest resolution gives you the best quality, its actually the opposite, the lowest resolution gives the best quality.

Pugsley

I didn’t think that

Me

They should still show the maximum resolution in a clear place.

Tony

They do. They usually have them on the boxes

Mark - Take Back the Ticket Things.

This is your conscience speaking.

Me

Stop having fun as me, Mom. They were used and, as such, won’t be useful again for another 1000 patients or so. Plus, I don’t think patients would like digging around a box of 1000 crumpled tickets, looking for something in the low sixties and somehow managing to pull #637 out six times in a row.

Simon

yay for my ticket, i threw it on the ground… ahhh keep Canada colourful.

Steve

Hmm gee I was left with the impresion that the quality of digital cameras was connected to the size of the CCDs and the number of CCDs. Most high end Digital Video Cameras have CCDs that are around 2 inches, and then have three of them, this idea of megapixel sounds more like marketing ploy.
