I have a request for everyone here. Have you ever heard of Google bombing? If not, here’s the synopsis: Google ranks sites not only by what they say, but also (and mostly) by what people say about them. A little over two years ago, the guy who created IM Stalking decided to exploit this fact and make a Google search for the term “talentless hack” link to a friend of his.
So I was thinking…I wouldn’t mind something like that for me. But instead of “talentless hack”, how about “the bag”? This is where I need your help. If you care to assist me, here’s what you do.
- If you don’t have a web page, get one.
- Mention my site on yours, and if it’s a blog, in as many entries as you can without feeling stupid. Always link with the phrase “the bag”, as in the bag.
- Keep it up for a few weeks.
Seriously. If everyone participated, it could work, and we could kick Bag and Baggage out of the top slot in the Google results for that search (although I am quite fond of that site). Also, someone has plasticbag.org. But I digress.
Who’s with me?

Simon
who on earth will search on google for ‘the bag’ ?
you should start trying to get ’sex’ to link to your site, isn’t that the most commonly searched thing?
Mark@Work
Actually, the most commonly searched for thing is ‘mp3′ — ’sex’ is second to music, I guess.
I want ‘the bag’!

Please Simon and Maazer: Please, put out the garbage from all over the house and in the shed!!!!
Angie@Work
Actually that last entry was from me!
Steve
I’m scared.
Simon
you want the garbage out the front or you want it IN the shed? i thought friday was rubbish day?
Angie@Work
No, its every 2nd Monday. If you take a look down the street, you’ll see all the garbage. If you could put out all the garbage from the shed and the little bathroom (and any other garbage you may see lying around) and get it out - it would be much appreciated. "Rubbish" - what a quaint term.
Simon
oops… garbage = rubbish in australia… i tried to mould to your ‘garbage’ term but i forgot on the last one.
