Kayaking

I went kayaking yesterday.

Who thinks I enjoyed myself, and who thinks I had a miserable time? Place your bets!

Believe it or not, I actually had a surprisingly good time. There were 12 people (including a Netherlandsian, two German ladies, and two “Barbies” (as Maazer called them) up from Chicago for an insurance broker’s conference in Halifax). Our crew included myself, Mom, Simon, Nick, Theresa (one of Mom’s friends from work), and Maazer. There were also two guides, one of whom was Pauly Shore. Adventures East was located in an ugly yellow “mansion” in St. Margaret’s Bay, which is a very pretty place about forty minutes outside of Halifax. The scenery is very similar to that of Peggy’s Cove, only without the standard light house and the monument to the people who died in the Swiss Air crash of 1998.

It was a beautiful trip — very scenic, and surprisingly warm considering what a horrid summer we’ve been having. And it didn’t rain — woohoo! Below this paragraph, you can see a picture of me going through some nasty rapids* with my mad kayaking self. We paddled around for about an hour and a half (rough guess), and some of the more observant people (read: everyone but me) saw a whale. A real whale, not “a fat person” as my Mom so eloquently put it.

So anyway, that’s that. Oh, by the way, my Bostonian road-trip has been redirected to Montreal and Ottawa. Wee!

And don’t use Voicemonkey anymore.

Read their web site. If you want to leave a message, you have to call a Houston number. And if you call the 888 number, my mailbox will be removed automatically.

Steve

So its not toll free anymore?

Steve

I’ve never had a good time in Montreal.
