Yahoo! The election is over, and thank god*
(Note: figure of speech. You should, in fact, be thanking the democratic process.)
the Nazi's didn't win. Nobody is really happy that the Liberals are in power again, but it sure beats the vile “America 2.0” regime that the Conservatives surely would have implemented. For a few minutes last night, I was under the impression that the Conservatives had, in fact, won. That sucked.

Anyway, the carpet guy is here and busily laying down the carpet in our living room and upstairs hallway. Yay — finally, it gets done. The steps have been carpet-free for more than a year. However, the cable installation didn't go as smoothly as one would have hoped. I had to get fitted for a respirator mask at work (to protect me from things like SARS and tuberculosis), and got back at 8:50 am. On the door was a slip of paper that said “Sorry we missed you!” from Eastlink. The time on it was 8:40. I didn't even think they started doing service calls until nine, but I was wrong. Hopefully, they will be able to stop by later, but we might have to wait until Saturday. Saturday isn't good, though, since that is when the relatives arrive. Life never goes smoothly.

Alas, I must go find something to eat. I can't wait until the carpet is down so I can put everything back together and continue on with my chores.

My lawn was the only lawn with a sign ... so then we decided to litter our lawn with Liberal signs and then the sidewalks.

It was a mission not really FOR the Liberals but damn sure to NOT have the crazy Nazi's win.

Did the Green party actually have enough votes to get $?

I just get a kick out of the fact that if you combine the liberal and NDP seats they equal the BQ, PC, and the one independant guy that got elected. That could make for something interesting

The green party got enough for funding.

John, if you combine the eviler parties and the indie conservative they have the majority. That could be dangerous.

If the libs appoint a conservative as their speaker of the house, then all will be well.
    Lib + NDP = 154
    BQ + CON + IND = 154 - speaker = 153

There is one small flaw with the logic you have in place here. The Bloq tends to stay away from alot of the non Quebec issues. Also the Liberals have and are usually very good to Quebec, see Trudou, Cretien.
The NDP would be very hardpressed to side with the Conservatives on any issue. ANd all the Liberals need is for half the Bloq or most of the NDP to side with them to Make the decisions they want. So in other words, We have Paul Martin who will look at the USA and say no thanks we're not going to war, but he will still try to spread funding around to alot of places.

One of the reasons The Bloc got along so well with the liberals before Steve, was due to the fact that the leader of the party at those times, see Trudeau and Cretien were French.

yeah I know thats why I wrote that. Not that there was a Bloq back with Trudou though. But the Liberals have more to give the French than the Tories who perfer to make everything the same, the Liberals tend to push the diversity.

I think it'll come down to specific issues. If anything threatens "provincial rights" it may be struck down by the Alberta and Quebec regional parties.

Mark, I need you (or anybody that matter) to check and see if ftp://ftp.linksys.com is working. I need the file tp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/befsr41v2.1-v1.45.11_code.bin but I can't seem to access the site at all (though I can ping it). If anyone gets it please email the file to me.
