Exciited

Update: Sunday shopping is now legal in Nova Scotia. FINALLY. Anyway…

On Saturday, I pre-ordered a Nintendo Wii. I am really, really excited about it. I think it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun to play, especially since they’re making lots of old games available on it as well. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a game system since I got my NES way back when. It’s going to rule. I’ve got a little countdown on my calendar at home, which is currently floating at 47 days. (I’m picking it up on November 20th, since the official launch date of November 19th falls on a Sunday, and I live in a moronic land where stores Must Not Be Open on Sundays — okay, this became untrue. What a coincidence.)

In nerdy web site news, I’ve been getting hit by comment spam really bad this past week. I think I’ve found a plugin to solve the problem, but it’s hard to tell. I’m so sick of garbage on the Internet. As much fun as it is being able to cruise around and do whatever, I sometimes wish we lived in a world where everything was attributable to somebody, just to stop people from wrecking things. Spam, in all forms, sucks.

Anyway, it’s almost lunch time, so I should start figuring out what I want. Until next time, I bid you good day.

SO excited about the Sunday shopping….even though I don’t live in Nova Scotia anymore…and I’ve been able to shop on Sundays for 6 months now…still SOOOO excited.

Keddy@home

Nick are you ignoring me by any chance?

Mark@Newton

How about next weekend? October 14th?

Janet@home

What day of the week is that?
I will try to get it off. I love pumpkins and also mazes.

Crispin

No im not, I haven’t gotten a call from you in awhile.
That’s date is fine with me

Keddy@home

Oh ok… I tried to call but your sleeping or something.

Mark@Work

October 14th is a Saturday.

Chris

Seeing as I live on the left coast and can be oblivious to what goes on right of the Rockies, was there a particular reason why Sunday shopping was taboo?

Janet

Now all we need is Sunday Banking. Than I will be a happy camper.

Steve

Okay so i’m like 90% sure i’ll have myself a lil apartment in dartmouth next week. So if anyone has anything to donate my way I’d muchly appreciate it cause I really only have just a bed.

keddy@work

where is the new apartment at ?

Mark@Newton

Sunday shopping was taboo because it would hurt small businesses, which is double-speak for "Sunday has always been God’s day and we like it like that".

alex

Hey, there are totally non-churchy types who were in favour of the day-of-rest thing, whatever day it happened to be. Protecting small businesses (and workers) is a legitimate concern. I mean there are good arguments for and against, but I personally think the whole brouhaha over it is unnecessary. OH MY GOD WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF ORANGES ON SUNDAY?!?! Come on now. Atleast now people will hopefully start to spend all the energy they spent debating this, and talk about something that’s actually important. Hopefully. Someday. Maybe?

Steve:
Do you need a computer desk, lamp or coffee maker???

Mark@Newton

Final comment on Sunday shopping: it’s stupid for the government to artificially restrict totally legitimate activities based solely on the day of the week, historical reasons or current concerns notwithstanding.

Pugs.

Also, we do have an unemploymeny issue in this province sunday shopping means more hours of work which means with any luck more people hired on. The idea of a day of rest is quaint and all but fact of the matter is, we are a city not a small town. We are one of the major eastern seaboard ports, to entirely close up shop on sundays is ridiculous. I have been working sundays for five years and it’s nice to see the rest of the province have that opportunity as well.

Janet@work

Steve I probably have some extra dishes. If you need them. Also do not forget to buy a plunger, it sucks when you need one and realize you do not own one.

Mark@Newton

We have tons of pots and dishes and stuff, and a vaccuum cleaner.

Steve

I could use a lamp, but I don’t drink coffee and my computer desk and all is set up at TJ’s where i can make use of internet. ALso the apartment i’m looking at has hardwood floors so no vaccuum required but anything like some spare dishes and such would be appreciated not that i can afford food though… Rice and noodles for Steve for a while.

Keddy@home

Dude you are resourceful. And I am sure I can help sometime!

Janet@Desk

My experience in the matter is a box of rice goes a long way. Also eat at friends places a lot. Oh I like to make rice omelets it is like an omlette but more supstantial, because you but cooked rice in the middle. Cover it in salsa and it is delicious.
Also I will buy you a house warming prezzie, what do you want?

Mark@Newton

We have oodles of forks and knives and such as well.

Keddy@work

I have an orange crush container…

Hypoalergenic cats???

Steve

Okay that apartment was way to ghetto for my car. I’m gonna keep looking.
