Okay, fun new quirk of my brain: waking up ten minutes before my alarm clock. It’s like I’m suddenly psychic or something.
Yeah. I really hate it. Since I am so very not a morning person, having the last few minutes of sleep get ruined by my own predictive powers is a bit of a downer. It’s not fun being in bed, knowing that you have to get up in ten minutes. I’d just get up then, except I’m scared it’d gradually lead to me waking up another ten minutes earlier, and then another, until all of a sudden I’m waking up before I go to bed. Blah. Stupid mornings!
Anyway, other than my annoyance with my own weirdnesses, not much is going on in my world. Last Sunday was Canada Day, which was pretty much a non-event for me — I spent the day cleaning out the shed and cleaning up the bedrooms from the previous few days home improvement efforts (which mainly involved putting trim down in my room, finally). I did get to go to the fireworks, though, which was fun, and Joey had a barbecue the next day down at his place, so things worked out alright.
Katie and David have moved into their new place, thus prompting me to totally panic about having not found a place yet (where by “not found a place” I mean “not started looking”). I’m bafflingly irresponsible sometimes. It’s a nice apartment on a quiet street, and it’s a really short walk down to the ferry terminal, so they’re set. Plus, there’s a plumbing supply wholesaler just down the street — what more could you ask for? Personally, I’m still trying to decide where I want to live. I think I’m just going to start lookng (ha) and see where random chance takes me. Such strategies have worked well for me in the past, after all.
Anyway, Alex just shared this gem with me: the re-united Spice Girls. Posh REALLY looks like she used to be a boy. Take a gander.

I think Posh looks more like a monkey then a boy. Despite the fact that we all evolved from monkey’s, she looks like she evolved this morning. HA!

I’ve started waking up an hour before my alarm…which just gives the cat more of an excuse to howl at me until I get out of bed.

You forgot about me. I came to visit on Canada day.

I’ve found that it is usually the best thing to get up when your body says ‘up’. Sure, those extra ten minutes SOUND nice, but if you actually nod off for a bit and enter part of the sleep cycle and are woken up by the alarm, you can actually feel less refreshed than if you had just gotten up the ten minutes ago.

Down with sleep cycles, up with Light Cycles!

I’ve been waking up at 4am everyday for just over a week now. Weird, but at least it leaves me more than ten minutes sleep (although I’ve done that a few too many times for my liking).
And: apartment. When are you checking that place out?

I wake up ten minutes before my alarm, think well i’m up no need to hear that noise turn the alarm off than fall asleep. Thus getting to work late good thing they love me.
